At Heron Pond Designs I spend my days creating beautiful garments from fabulous yarns.

Sample knitting

A beautifully executed sample increases your sales. Yarn makers: finished garments show how your yarn will work up. And if your customer can try on that sweater on display they’ll probably buy the pattern and yarn on the spot. Take a look at my samples portfolio and contact me to reserve a spot in my production schedule.

Custom knitting

Maybe you fell in love with that yarn or pattern but aren’t sure you want to knit it yourself. Maybe you don’t even knit! I can make your dream a reality. Sweaters are a specialty, but there’s almost nothing I won’t attempt. View my client knitting portfolio then contact me to discuss your project.

Scarves and Socks

Beautiful unique scarves from elegant to funky. Woven in silky lyocell scarves have sheen and fluidity. Cosy alpaca silk makes a scarf that is lightweight and not too warm. Merino/lyocell adds a bit of heft to a warm winter scarf.

Socks for adults with snazzy stripes, riotous color, or subdued tweeds. Buy ready-made from my online shop or I can make them to fit your foot.

You can get a scarf or pair of socks anywhere. But isn’t it more fun to own something made especially for you? The scarf that makes your power suit even more of a knock-out. The comfy socks you pack for a weekend getaway to the mountains. How can I make your day?

I weave scarves on modern floor looms and knit socks using an antique circular sock machine.  My design focus is color and exploring the intersection of color and texture. The hand painted yarns that I use are dyed just a few miles away from my studio by my friend and colleague Ellen Minard.

With over 30 years of hand knitting experience I also offer custom knitting, finishing and design services. From selecting materials and pattern through delivery of your finished garment, I work with you to ensure complete satisfaction with your order. I especially enjoy knitting samples and test knitting new patterns.

Everything I sell is hand made by me in my Vermont studio.  My knitting patterns are available on Ravelry.
